Services for parents, carers, children and young people:

Autistic children and young people can find their journey through education difficult and at times, traumatic. If your child is unhappy at school or you are worried about any aspect of their progress, Kent Autism Education Service can support you and your child.

Specialist advice to ensure that your child is educated within a school or other setting where they are understood and valued as an individual and where the environment works for them.

I offer a wide range of services, including:

  • Working with your child to help develop their understanding of themselves as an individual, including their many qualities and strengths whilst providing compassionate support around the areas of life they may be struggling to navigate.

  • Supporting your child to develop and use strategies that help to reduce anxiety and enable them to communicate to others what they need.

  • Working collaboratively with your child’s school on your behalf to develop or improve the support they need.

  • Supporting you with making a request for an Education health and care plan (EHCP) for your child (the request for assessment) and through the assessment process.

  • Support with arrangorganising and managing Education Otherwise than at School packages.

  • Advice and guidance on choosing to home educate your child (Elective home education).

  • Support with appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST).

I also support families with children who have characteristics associated with autism and who may or may not be awaiting clinical assessment.
