  • Kent Autism Education Service can deliver a comprehensive consultancy service to support schools in the development of their whole school SEND provision, leading to improved progress and outcomes for their pupils with SEND.

    Consultancy can be provided to schools and post-16 providers across all phases and sectors, including independent schools.

  • Whole School or college SEND review, to include:

    • Initial staff skills audit

    • Data analysis

    • Observation and discussion with teaching and support staff

    • Gathering parent and pupil voice

    • Production of a detailed report with recommendations for development of inclusive practice and SEND provision

    • Feedback presentation (on request)

    • Working with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement a SEND Improvement or development plan (on request)

    • Provision of exemplar resources and support with lesson planning

    • Support with curriculum design

  • Kent Autism Education Service can deliver bespoke training packages to schools and colleges across all phases and sectors.

    Training content will be written specifically for your setting, in line with your requirements.

    Areas to be covered could include:

    • Introductory ‘awareness level’ training on all four broad areas of need, including: autism (ASD/ASC); speech language and communication needs; specific learning difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)) SEMH needs including ADHD, anxiety and depression.

    • Successfully including autistic pupils in your setting, securing good progress across the curriculum.

    • Training for teachers and support staff relating to the specific needs and strengths of individual pupils.

    • Training on the Statutory duties of both Section 41 and independent schools in relation to SEN and disability.

    • Governor or trustee training in relation to SEND.

  • Kent Autism Education Service provides specialist teaching advice and guidance to independent schools in order to improve the well-being and outcomes achieved by your autistic students (and students presenting with characteristics associated with autism without a formal diagnosis).
